Following on from last year’s event, Proctor Legal hosted StrataWorking® 2026 in Canberra on Thursday 29 October, with more than 70 engaged owners, committee members and strata professionals in attendance.
StrataWorking® Mission
Our mission is simple: to make strata simple.
We believe strata is more than legislation, meetings and management. It is about people, shared interests and thriving communities. By increasing understanding and encouraging the exchange of ideas and experiences, we can help create better outcomes for everyone involved in strata living.
StrataWorking® delivers education and promotes awareness of current ACT strata issues through its podcast and the soon-to-be-launched Executive Committee Training Program. Proudly hosted by Suz and Ally, StrataWorking® also supports Canberra Hospitals Foundation by raising awareness and funds to assist members of our community throughout their healthcare journeys.
Our Presenters and Sessions
The day was hosted by Susan Proctor and Allyson Hogan, and the sessions covered a practical range of strata topics:
The panel featured:

Financing Options for Repair and Maintenance: Presented by Gemma Davey, Lannock Strata Finance.
EC Governance, Conflicts and How to Manage Them: Presented by Susan Proctor and Allyson Hogan. A discussion on running a committee well.
Arcsite: Presented by Kelly Hill, Arcsite. Owner-led building governance and data-driven asset management.
ACAT Tribunal Matters: Presented by Susan Proctor and Allyson Hogan. A look at the disputes that reach the tribunal and how to avoid them.
“Price Isn’t Protection”: Presented by Greta Vargas, Strata Community Insurance. The factors that actually protect a strata scheme.
Key Takeaways
Invest, don’t just cut costs: major works are an investment, and the right question is which investment gives the best return.
Plan early and fund wisely: understanding your funding options before the work starts keeps decisions clear and avoids rushed choices.
Communicate with your owners: a dump of documents is not communication. Present options early and explain why the preferred option is best.
Check your cover at every renewal: the cheapest premium and what it buys can be different things, and changes to sub-limits or wording can go unnoticed.
Maintenance protects your premium: well-maintained schemes are the ones best placed to secure steady, sustainable insurance.
Supporting a Great Cause
Together, StrataWorking® 2026 raised $5,736 for the Canberra Hospitals Foundation. Thank you to everyone who gave so generously on the day.
